Lawn Damage from Japanese Beetles
Although a native of Japan, the Japanese beetle is well-established in the Indianapolis area. Japanese beetle larvae, also called grubs, can wreak havoc on golf courses and home lawns. In Indiana, from April to the end of May and again August to November, grubs are feeding on the roots of lawn grass. This makes it very difficult for the grass to absorb moisture and more prone to drying out and turning brown. Damage becomes more evident during dry summers and in the fall.
If you happen to have many grubs in your soil, they will attract predators like raccoons, geese, crows, and skunks. (We know, skunks are just what you want on your lawn – NOT!) These predators dig for the grubs, tearing up large sections of your grass and soil.
When the grubs mature to be Japanese beetles and June bugs, they feed on your landscaping’s trees and shrubs, vegetable gardens, and fruit trees. Adult beetles eat the leaf material between the veins of the leaf, effectively leaving just the skeleton of the leaf. In some instances, the Japanese beetle and June bug populations have soared so high that they strip all the green leaves off the plants.
Reliable Japanese Beetle Control in Lawns
Since grubs mature to be Japanese beetles, we use our grub control treatment to protect your lawn from any damage. As a key component to our Round 3 of lawn fertilization during the growing season, this blanket of protection targets white grubs.
Side note: We mix the grub control solution with our lawn fertilizer, saving money on labor, and we pass the savings on to you.
The same treatment also helps reduce the number of adult beetles invading your property and damaging your flowers and trees. It has the added benefit of also reducing or eliminating other surface feeding insects such as army worms and sod webworms.
